ADG currently is weighted towards the libertarian Right (though none would accept the "anarcho-capitalist" label), but there is also a left/liberal presence.

After Eric B. moved out of town, ADG was run first by Liam Flanagan, and later by Jeff Chase.
The ADG is free and is open to all, however, those who actually come to our meetings are atheists [not necessarily true --editor]. We are made up of many different flavors of atheists. Quite diverse -- we tend to disagree with each other more often than not on secular topics.
On Wed 7 April 1999, MITAAH and the New England Skeptical Society (NESS) co-hosted a lecture by Michael Shermer, editor of Skeptic Magazine, director of the Skeptics Society and author of Why People Believe Weird Things".
Unless someone else wishes to take it over (and tackle the substantially higher workload that would result), it is not intended as a public platform to challenge the godly.

Disclaimers
Founded on 21 Mar 1987, the Atheist Discussion Group (ADG) of Greater Boston is New England's oldest atheist-by-name organization. It offers participants the opportunity to exchange ideas with other individuals who share a secular frame of reference.
Past meetings (since August 1998).
In the early to mid 1990s, ADG was influenced by Eric Budd, who among other things instituted the "Holbach Society," meeting at Chili's Restaurant after ADG lectures. At the "society"s meetings, Eric B. would raise a toast to Paul Henri Dietrich, Baron D'Holbach (1723-1789), a materialist philosopher who held that religion and society were the twin sources of all evils.
The ADG meets at 7pm the first non-holiday Monday of each month. Usually, speakers take 40 minutes to present their topic and then take questions and lead a discussion for an additional hour.
The description of past meetings has been moved to a separate page.
